They can be whipped up in an evening and provide both practicality and a beautiful addition to a winter outfit. A gift that is sure to be appreciated and used. Perfect for keeping your hands warm and fingers free to drive, text or fish keys out of your bag. The flowers and leaves add a touch of detail that will brighten up any winter outfit and are sure to draw compliments from friends and family,
I used black as a base and a nice pea green for the leaves and stem to give the gloves a Folk style similar to the embroidered blouses and bags that are so popular at the moment. With many people choosing black as a staple in their wardrobe, the bright applique injects a bit of fun and colour into a plain dark outfit. Black is not a colour I usually go for but I love how the colours stand out on these funky little gloves.
My yarn brand of choice at the moment is Drops. They have a fantastic selection of natural yarns made in Peru. The yarn I used was Drops Nepal, perfect for winter accessories it is a blend of wool and Alpaca yarn. Soft and squishy it makes fabulous gloves, ear-warmers and cowls. I purchase mine from The Wool Warehouse as they have regular Drops sales and you can stock up your stash without breaking the bank. You could however use any aran/worsted weight yarn.
I made the flowers and leaves using leftovers from my Climbing Rose Wrap by Janie Crow ( a fabulous design that I will show you on my next post. It really is a stunner! )
